This job entails:

Clocking in at our office at 7:45pm, going over your sweeper truck for fuel, lights, trash bags and water level, then running a route of 6 to 12 stops, returning to our shop 8 to 12 hours later and clocking out.

Your first week is spent in training with another driver. After you are comfortable with a route you will be allowed to go out on your own.

When you get to a site, you first empty all trashcans that are half-full or more and install new trash bags. Then, using a hand-held blower, you blow down all storefront sidewalk areas for trash and cigarette butts. You only need to blow trash off sidewalks and into the parking area, the sweeper truck will vacuum everything up.

The next step is to start running the truck over all visible pieces of trash by making wide, long circles in the parking lot. While passing by landscape islands you may notice cups or bottles in the bushes. You will need to get out and pick up these items by hand.

We are currently sending out five sweepers every night. Crews work four nights on and four nights off. We operate 365 days a year, rain or shine. Every truck has a Nextel 2-way phone, so you can communicate with your night manager and co-workers.

A CDL driver license is not required to drive our trucks. They have a GVW of 14,250lbs. and all have automatic transmissions, power steering, and power brakes. They are maintained in-house by a staff of three personnel. A valid New Jersey driver’s license is required with an excellent history of very few tickets or accidents.

We are a drug-free workplace and pay to drug test all final applicants prior to hiring.
